Rock Climbing in Canada

Rock Climbing is to climb up and down from natural or artificial rock walls. It contains Scrambling (climbing steep terrain with the use of hands) to vertical or negative slope. Rock Climbing is a very dangerous activity and there is no room for mistakes. Skills, good body condition, training, proper gears and experience are very important for a safe climb.

Rock climbing can be on an artificial indoor rock wall or in the natural mountain environment. It has many grades from 5.0 to 5.15 and V0 to V16 and it depends on many factors such as slope, the distance of holds, fix protection and etc, mostly the height is not a factor.

Rock climbers usually use rappelling to get down. Rappel or Abseiling is to descend a vertical surface like a cliff by using a rope and wrapping it around the body or use a technical device like a Rack.

The types of rock climbing are Trad Climbing, Free Climbing, Solo Climbing, Bouldering, Top Roping, Aid Climbing, Lead Climbing and there are many techniques to use depends on the rocks.
